Dr. Hancock attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated with a THG degree in 1957. His first church was Providence Baptist Church just outside Tampa, Florida. During his years there, the church grew to be the strongest rural church in the state of Florida. The Providence Christian school, kindergarten through high school, and the Providence Christian College were founded under his direction.
Dr. Hancock has been preaching for 52 years, forty one of those years in the pastorate and the last eleven as an evangelist. He has been the pastor of several churches including a long tenure at Pinecrest Baptist Church in Morrow, Georgia. He has conducted revivals and bible conferences in some of the largest churches in America and addressed the students at some of our leading Christian colleges. He is still going strong even in his 70’s.
In 1967, Dr. Hancock was injured in the crash of a light plane he was flying. Television and radio announced he had been killed. However, God saw fit to keep him alive. The doctors told him that his vocal cords and larynx were destroyed and his life as a preacher was ended. God miraculously restored his larynx and vocal cords and performed a miracle enabling him to preach with great power and strength.
Dr. Hancock is married to the former Mary Annell Swann and God has blessed them with two daughter, two sons, and several grandchildren. He is the author of the books “The End of the World” and “I Think I’ll Just Go On Anyway” as well as several booklets. He and Mrs. Hancock now reside in Williamsburg, Virginia. One of Dr. Hancock’s favorite sayings is “It’s not enough to care; we must care enough”.
